The National GEM Consortium
Linking Exceptional Talent to Extraordinary Careers
The National GEM Consortium is addressing the critical shortfall in the production of American engineering and scientific talent. Our model is strategic and proven with more than three decades of results. As a nonprofit corporation, our core business is providing graduate fellowships in engineering and science to highly qualified individuals from communities where human capital is virtually untapped.
A growing base of corporations, universities, research centers, and U. S. government laboratories partner with us to provide GEM Fellows much-needed financial support—often the deciding factor in pursuing graduate education—and practical experience through advanced-level internships.
We are uniquely positioned to address a national need for innovative technical talent. GEM empowers people to do extraordinary things. Explore our site to learn more.
Results of GEM Building Dedication and Annual Board Meeting
The National GEM Consortium held its Annual Board Meeting at the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) National Conference in Washington, DC on Wednesday, October, 28, 2009. The 2009-2010 GEM annual budget was passed and the University Research funding model was adopted. Changes to GEM's current internship placement model was introduced with a plan for focus group model development to occur in the immediate future. The board meeting was preceded by a building dedication reception held at GEM's headquarters in Alexandria, VA. Presentations at the reception were given by one of GEM's Founders, Dr. Percy Pierre and GEM President Dr. Juan Andrade. The reception was held jointly with SHPE who also opened a new location in the same office complex. Thanks to all who attended both physically and virtually!
